Latest NICE Framework Update Offers Improvements for the Cybersecurity Workforce

NIST announces the release of the NICE Workforce Framework Version 1.0.0 (March 5, 2024), describing a refresh of Work Role Categories and Work Roles (including one new Work Role, Insider Threat Analysis), the addition of eleven Competency Areas, and extensive updates to Task, Knowledge, and Skill (TKS) statements (only 139 of 2,280 TKS retained from 2017). The update aims to support skills-based hiring, workforce development, education, and organizational risk management and is positioned as the first step in ongoing iterative improvements; resources and mappings from the previous version are available via the NICE Framework Resource Center.
