How to Halt the Hijackers

This advisory explains how to protect against and respond to IP/ASN (network) hijacking: treat IP ranges as assets, maintain accurate RIR contact info and domain renewals, announce unused ranges, identify the announcing ASN or upstream ISP if hijacked, collect evidence (letters of authority, contact/payment details), pursue domain or RIR reclamation (WIPO/ARIN procedures), check reputation lists like Spamhaus, seek community assistance (e.g., NANOG), and consider law enforcement options including US CAN-SPAM Act implications.
