Emotet's takedown has not ended the threat: adversaries continue to use email phishing and thread hijacking to distribute spam modules and drop follow-on malware. Variants previously associated with Emotet—such as TrickBot (credential theft) and Ryuk (ransomware)—remain active, enabling network reconnaissance and subsequent ransomware attacks, posing a significant ongoing risk to organizations.
