Vulnerability management is reaching the limits of human scale

The 2026 Cloud-Native Security and Usage Report observes exponential growth in reported vulnerabilities and a shrinking window between disclosure and exploit—now often measured in hours—driven in part by AI-assisted weaponization. While Sysdig’s Risk Spotlight reduced exploitable in-use vulnerabilities among customers by 75% YoY, in-use vulnerabilities overall have plateaued, underscoring the need for runtime defenses, automated/agentic remediation, and strict human guardrails to manage accelerating risk.
