Ubuntu infrastructure has been down for more than a day

Exploit code capable of granting root access on servers across most Linux distributions was published, and within hours Ubuntu/Canonical infrastructure (numerous ubuntu.com and canonical subdomains) went offline, limiting official security communications; the report suggests DDoS-as-a-service activity may be involved and notes updates are still available via mirrors.
