Multi-Party Computation (MPC) in Wallets: A Review of Current Strategies

This report describes how MPC and threshold cryptography can be used to improve Web3 wallet usability and security, explaining key backup via secret sharing, distributed key generation (with examples like Zcash ceremonies, EthDKG, and OKX threshold-lib), and distributed signature computation for ECDSA, EdDSA, and BLS; it highlights protocol properties, implementation considerations, and practical trade-offs for integrating these techniques into web and browser-based wallet experiences.
