Security Considerations When Designing Blockchain Governance Systems

This report explains on-chain and dApp governance models, enumerates common security weaknesses (e.g., lack of anti-flashloan controls, missing validation/deposit periods, misconfigured thresholds and timelocks, flawed upgrade/initializer logic), and documents real-world exploits — most prominently the Beanstalk flashloan governance attack that drained tens of millions of dollars — plus Audius and Fortress incidents; it closes with remediation guidance such as adopting mature governance frameworks and stronger timelocks.
