This article argues that CISOs in 2026 should adopt a Threat-Led Defense approach that prioritizes defenses proven to disrupt real adversary procedures—beyond tool counts, CVSS scores, and compliance—by operationalizing MITRE ATT&CK at the procedural level, reducing tool sprawl, and tying investment to measurable interruption of attacker execution paths; it promotes platforms like Tidal Cyber to evaluate deployed detections against adversary behaviors, identify gaps, and provide evidence-based answers to the question: *which attacks can we defend against right now?*
