Who Is CIS?

This document outlines the Center for Internet Security’s (CIS) nonprofit, vendor-agnostic mission; its development and global recognition of the CIS Critical Security Controls and CIS Benchmarks; its collaborative communities (notably the MS-ISAC) that deliver threat intelligence, monitoring, and incident response to U.S. state and local entities; and its funding through a CISA cooperative agreement and low-cost services. It emphasizes CIS’s role as an independent convener across government and industry to produce practical, consensus-based cybersecurity best practices and services.
