New warnings that Russian operatives are targeting the emails of US nuclear scientists and defense contractors

A year-long Russian-linked espionage campaign targeted nuclear scientists, defense contractors, government and energy-sector organizations using a rare email-server exploit that can steal three months of email and an organization’s directory; Proofpoint and allied intelligence agencies issued warnings and advisories, noting techniques were tested on Ukrainian victims before being used against NATO and Western targets, and at least one suspect was arrested.
