CISOs grow more concerned about risk of material cyberattack

Proofpoint’s 2025 'Voice of the CISO' survey of 1,600 CISOs across 16 countries reports rising concern and impact: two-thirds experienced material loss of sensitive data in the past year, three-quarters fear a material cyberattack within 12 months, six in 10 say their organizations are unprepared, and two-thirds would pay a ransom; the report also notes increasing pressure on CISOs and declining alignment with boards on cyber risk and resource allocation.
