Large DDoS attack knocks Norwegian public services offline

A large-scale DDoS attack against the Norwegian Digitalisation Agency (Digdir) and its IT partner Vivicta disrupted around ten government digital services — including ID-porten (used by over 4.5 million users) and parts of the health infrastructure — for more than a day; the attack lasted about 30 hours at varying intensity, is reported to be larger than prior incidents, caused availability issues (e.g., online pharmacies, electronic prescriptions), and so far has not resulted in reported data breaches or attribution.
