Tennessee-based mortgage lender confirms December cyberattack

Tennessee-based Mortgage Investors Group (MIG) disclosed a cybersecurity incident discovered on December 12 after unauthorized access to its network beginning December 11 exposed sensitive customer personal and financial information; MIG has retained a vendor to identify affected individuals and will notify them directly. The Black Basta ransomware gang claimed the attack, consistent with its pattern of targeting financial and critical infrastructure organizations and having previously impacted hundreds of entities globally.
