UK regulator to probe Telegram, teen chat sites for potential child safety violations

Ofcom has opened an investigation into Telegram after the Canadian Centre for Child Protection provided evidence alleging CSAM is present and shared on the platform, and has also launched probes into Chat Avenue and Teen Chat over concerns that they may facilitate grooming; Ofcom may require changes or levy fines up to £18 million or 10% of qualifying worldwide revenue if violations of the Online Safety Act are found.
