Russia used social engineering to breach prominent messaging accounts, Ukraine says

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), working with the FBI, revealed a sustained Russian campaign targeting messaging accounts of government officials, military personnel, politicians and activists in Ukraine, Europe and the United States. Attackers relied on social engineering—commonly impersonating official platform support—to trick victims into disclosing one-time verification codes and credentials, aiming to steal sensitive political, military and personal data.
