Secret Service says it disrupted illicit cellular network threatening UN conference

The U.S. Secret Service discovered and dismantled a sophisticated covert telecommunications network—over 100,000 SIM cards and 300 servers—within 35 miles of the U.N. in New York; the network, linked to foreign actors and persons known to law enforcement, could have disabled the city's cellular network and disrupted communications for government and emergency personnel during the U.N. General Assembly and is under active investigation.
