Breach exposes sensitive LAPD files stored in city attorney system

The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office suffered a breach of a third-party discovery-transfer tool, resulting in the exfiltration of roughly 7.7 TB and more than 337,000 files containing sensitive police-related materials (witness names, medical information, unredacted complaints and investigative files). The LAPD reports its systems were not compromised; the City Attorney’s Office is working with law enforcement, external forensics, and the City IT Agency to assess scope and notify affected parties.
