European countries are exporting surveillance tech to countries with poor human rights records, report says

Human Rights Watch found that companies in multiple EU member states have sold commercial spyware and surveillance tools to more than two dozen countries with records of human rights abuses, while many EU governments and the European Commission have not adequately enforced the 2021 export-control rules; the report calls for stronger due diligence, transparency and enforcement during the upcoming regulatory review.
