Armenia’s pro-Europe party wins election despite Russia-linked disinformation

Researchers reported a large, Kremlin-linked influence operation called “Matryoshka” that ran an eight-month campaign of fabricated news, manipulated videos, coordinated bot activity, fake media sites and impersonation to influence Armenia’s parliamentary election and undermine confidence in the process; the campaign is characterized as part of a broader Doppelganger effort to clone legitimate outlets and was accompanied by hoax bomb threats targeting polling stations.
