Former NSA insider Kosiba brought back as spy agency’s No. 2

The National Security Agency announced Tim Kosiba as its new deputy director, replacing a previously considered candidate, Joe Francescon, who withdrew following political backlash. Kosiba, a former senior NSA and FBI official, will oversee day-to-day operations while attention shifts to President Trump’s nominee to lead NSA and U.S. Cyber Command, with Senate confirmation hearings for Lt. Gen. Joshua Rudd scheduled in January.
