Resolv, a decentralized finance platform, suffered a compromise when an attacker obtained a private key used by off-chain infrastructure to authorize USR stablecoin minting; the attacker minted ≈$80M of unbacked USR, swapped part for ~11,408 ETH (~$24.5M), causing USR to depeg (~$0.26) and forcing Resolv to pause its app, enable redemptions, contact users, and attempt recovery while coordinating with exchanges, law enforcement, and analytics firms. Chainalysis called the root cause an overly trusting off-chain signing service that allowed limitless minting once the key was stolen.
