Nearly 1 million Wisconsin Medicare users had information leaked in MOVEit breach

Attackers exploited a vulnerability in the MOVEit file transfer service and copied files containing sensitive personal and Medicare-related information; CMS and WPS are notifying affected individuals after concluding attackers accessed files between May 27–31, 2023. The incident is part of the wider Clop-linked MOVEit campaign that impacted thousands of organizations and exposed tens of millions of records, prompting card reissuance, offers of credit monitoring, and ongoing law enforcement and civil investigations.
