Federal IT contractor to pay $14.75 fine over ‘cyber fraud’ allegations

Hill Associates, a Maryland IT services contractor to U.S. federal agencies, agreed to pay $14.75 million to settle False Claims Act allegations that it billed for personnel lacking required qualifications, charged for out-of-scope cybersecurity services without the required GSA technical evaluation, imposed unapproved fees, and overstated overhead; the agreement (without admission of liability) also requires paying 2.5% of annual revenues exceeding $18.8 million beginning next year through the end of the decade, as the DOJ signals continued pursuit of cyber fraud with similar 2024 settlements involving Raytheon, Nightwing Group, and a military healthcare contractor.
