Hackers used autonomous AI agent to spy on Thailand's finance ministry

Researchers at Hunt.io discovered an active cyber-espionage campaign targeting Thailand's Ministry of Finance in which attackers employed an autonomous AI agent (Hermes) configured to execute commands without human approval to map the network, harvest credentials, and deploy a custom backdoor named Hades; exposed attacker infrastructure contained malware, exploits for known vulnerabilities, attack scripts tailored to ministry systems, and authentication artifacts, though no confirmed data exfiltration was reported.
