Iranian accused of hacking American universities extradited from Montenegro

U.S. authorities extradited Amir Barati, accused of playing a central role in an Iranian-linked campaign (allegedly run via the Mabna Institute on behalf of the IRGC) that used spearphishing and stolen credentials to breach email accounts at hundreds of universities and companies worldwide between 2013–2017, stealing roughly 31 TB of academic data and intellectual property and causing significant reported damages.
