Armenian, Ukrainian nationals among Ryuk ransomware actors facing US hacking charges

The U.S. Department of Justice has charged multiple individuals alleged to be involved in the Ryuk ransomware campaign; one suspect was extradited from Ukraine and others have been arrested or charged in France and Ukraine. Prosecutors say Ryuk operators launched over 2,400 attacks from 2019–2020—disrupting hospitals, state and local municipalities—and collected at least $15 million in ransoms; the group has been linked to Russian cybercriminals and to Trickbot's infrastructure.
