The Community Clinic of Maui (Mālama) suffered a ransomware attack in early May that impacted 123,882 people and led to theft of Social Security numbers, passport numbers, financial account details (including CVV and expiration dates), routing numbers, biometric data and medical treatment records. The attack forced the clinic to take servers offline and limit services for nearly two weeks, prompted involvement of law enforcement and cybersecurity investigators, and was publicly claimed by the LockBit ransomware group; the breach has prompted potential legal action and offers of (limited) credit monitoring.
