Ransomware incident responder gave info to BlackCat cybercriminals during negotiations, DOJ alleges

The U.S. Justice Department alleges that incident responder Angelo Martino collaborated with ALPHV/BlackCat and two other security professionals to conduct and facilitate ransomware extortion while simultaneously serving as a negotiator for victims; the scheme involved at least 10 attacks, produced large ransom demands (including $26M, $25M, $16M, $6M) and a confirmed ~$1.2M payout, leading to criminal charges and DigitalMint terminating implicated employees and implementing stricter negotiation controls.
