Italy’s Garante has ordered DeepSeek to disclose details on its handling of personal data—including what it collects, data sources, storage location (e.g., China), legal basis, purposes, user notification practices, and whether it uses web scraping—within 20 days, while Ireland’s Data Protection Commission has also sought information on processing of Irish citizens’ data; the report additionally notes DeepSeek’s temporary signup restrictions due to malicious activity impacting performance and references Garante’s prior temporary ban on ChatGPT.
