Spotify disables accounts after open-source group scrapes 86 million songs from platform

Recorded Future reports that Anna's Archive discovered a method to scrape Spotify at scale and published a bulk release of roughly 300 TB containing 86 million music files and a 256 million-track metadata database, claiming preservation motives. Spotify responded that the files were obtained by stream-ripping via third-party user accounts (not by breaching Spotify systems), that it has disabled the offending accounts, and that the incident is primarily an intellectual-property/copyright violation rather than a traditional hack.
