FCC proposes new rule to further crackdown on illegal robocalls

The FCC is proposing tougher KYC rules for originating voice providers (including traditional voice, mobile, and VoIP) to curb illegal robocalls, recommending per-call fines, mandatory collection and retention of customer identity records for at least four years, re-verification for unusual activity, and additional information for high-volume customers; the proposal aims to reduce fraud and assist law enforcement and follows a recent proposed fine against Voxbeam for allegedly facilitating fraudulent call traffic.
