Singapore says China-linked hackers targeted telecom providers in major spying campaign

Singapore's Cyber Security Agency attributed a sophisticated China-linked APT campaign (UNC3886) targeting all four major telcos (M1, SIMBA Telecom, Singtel, StarHub). The attackers used advanced tools to infiltrate networks, maintain long-term covert access, and in at least one case exploited a previously unknown software vulnerability; a multi-agency response (Cyber Guardian) ran for over 11 months and found no evidence of customer data exfiltration or service disruptions despite limited access to critical systems.
