Ukraine probes teen suspect in cyber theft scheme targeting California online shoppers

Ukrainian authorities say they identified an 18-year-old suspect tied to an international cybercrime operation that used info‑stealing malware to harvest credentials from nearly 30,000 accounts of a U.S. online retailer between 2024–2025; at least 5,800 accounts were used for fraudulent purchases causing roughly $721,000 in unauthorized transactions and about $250,000 in losses. Investigators seized phones, computers, storage devices, account credentials, server logs and cryptocurrency exchange records; the stolen data was allegedly sold via online marketplaces and Telegram channels.
