FTC warns 12 major tech firms of violating Take It Down Act

The FTC has sent letters to a dozen major tech companies urging immediate compliance with the Take It Down Act, which requires platforms to provide an easy process for victims to request removal of nonconsensual intimate images and to delete them within 48 hours. The agency recommended technical measures (e.g., hashing and hash sharing with NCMEC or StopNCII.org), visible notices of TIDA, simple in-content reporting, and tracking identifiers for requests; failure to comply could carry fines.
