FBI, CISA say Chinese hackers are still lurking in US telecom systems

U.S. cybersecurity agencies report that the Chinese-linked group Salt Typhoon infiltrated multiple telecommunications companies, harvesting large amounts of call/text metadata and some content (including targeted interceptions of officials), and may still maintain access; CISA, the FBI, the NSA and international partners have been investigating since spring and issued guidance to help telecoms detect and remove the intruders while many details and scope remain unknown.
