DOJ, CISA warn of Russia-linked attacks targeting meat processing plants, nuclear regulatory entities and other critical infrastructure

U.S. and international agencies warned that Russian state-backed groups CARR and NoName057(16) have targeted water, energy, food and other critical infrastructure since 2022, exploiting internet-facing VNC and other remote access vectors, performing DDoS and OT intrusions that in some cases caused physical impacts (e.g., spoiled food, ammonia leak, and large water spills); the advisory is accompanied by DOJ indictments, sanctions, and coordinated takedowns.
