NSA, FBI warns of hackers using AI-generated tools in attacks on critical infrastructure technology

Federal agencies (including the NSA and FBI) issued an advisory warning of an active campaign targeting Siemens S7 programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in critical infrastructure; attackers are using AI-generated exploit scripts and Internet scanning to find exposed PLCs, conduct reconnaissance, and develop capabilities that could enable disruption, safety incidents, downtime, or equipment damage across energy, water, manufacturing, and defense sectors.
