Disinformation campaign targeted Tibetan parliament-in-exile elections

Researchers attributed a low-impact online influence operation to the China-linked Spamouflage network, which used about 90 Facebook accounts and 13 Instagram profiles and deployed tactics including AI-generated images to push narratives undermining the Tibetan government-in-exile during its parliamentary elections; the campaign repurposes accounts across targets (e.g., Philippines, U.S., Taiwan, Japan) but produced virtually no organic engagement.
