Investigation prompts European hosting companies to suspend accounts linked to Russian disinfo

Researchers uncovered a Kremlin-aligned disinformation operation called Doppelgänger that used legitimate European hosting providers to host cloned media websites and spread fake articles across Europe; following reporting, Hetzner and Hostinger suspended affected accounts, and nonprofits found infrastructure or registrations in at least ten European countries, disrupting a portion of the campaign’s pages while operators attempt to migrate to other providers.
