Company that assists health care insurers discloses 2023 data breach

WebTPA, a Texas-based administrator for health benefit plans, disclosed that an unauthorized actor may have accessed personal information for approximately 2,429,175 people between April 18–23, 2023; potentially exposed data includes names, contact details, dates of birth/death, Social Security numbers, and insurance information. The company engaged third-party security experts, notified law enforcement and regulators, and reported no known misuse while stating financial and treatment data were not affected.
