South Africa national lab says ransomware recovery to last until mid-July

South Africa’s National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) was hit by a ransomware attack in late June attributed to the BlackSuit (rebrand of Royal) gang, which reportedly deleted systems and backups and stole ~1.2 TB of data. The outage disrupted test-result delivery across 265 labs, left millions of tests unprocessed, delayed critical care and operations, and forced NHLS to use manual and phone-based result reporting while investigating and restoring services.
