Dallas suburb working with FBI to address attempted ransomware attack

A ransomware attack against the City of Richardson disrupted access to some internal city file systems after attackers gained access to government servers; automated security systems limited the encryption to a small number of files. The city says essential external services (911, police, payments, waste services) remain available, recovery is underway using backups and hardware replacement, the FBI is assisting, and there is currently no indication that sensitive data was accessed.
