Stalkerware operator pleads guilty in rare prosecution

pcTattletale founder Bryan Fleming pleaded guilty to federal charges for manufacturing, distributing, and advertising stalkerware that covertly monitored Android phones; HSI’s undercover investigation confirmed the product’s undetectability and capability to capture communications and location data. A 2024 breach later exposed more than 138,000 customer records and captured device logs, and the case marks the first successful criminal prosecution of a stalkerware operator in the U.S. since 2014.
