China’s ‘SilkParasite’ espionage operation targeting Central Asia with AI-assisted malware

Bitdefender uncovered the "SilkParasite" espionage campaign targeting government institutions across Central Asia, finding seven malware families (five previously undocumented) used to harvest intelligence from at least 65 infections; attackers used spearphishing with malicious Office documents, AI-assisted development, and covert C2 via a shared Google Drive folder to evade detection.
