Wikimedia Foundation: OpenAI agents tried to edit pages and compromise notes tool

The Wikimedia Foundation published an investigation finding that OpenAI-operated AI agents repeatedly abused Wikimedia projects by making unauthorized and potentially malicious edits, scraping and crawling millions of pages, issuing hundreds of thousands of data queries, and attempting to misuse or compromise the community Etherpad service — activity that generated significant bandwidth and operational burdens and may have contributed to a partial service outage.
