Interpol Taken Down 6 Ransomware Variants and Arrested 500+ Suspects

Operation Sentinel was a month-long, multi-country law enforcement operation across 19 African nations that resulted in 574 arrests, the dismantling of six ransomware variants, the disabling of over 6,000 malicious links, seizure of approximately USD 3 million, and investigations tied to estimated losses of over USD 21 million. The campaign disrupted BEC schemes, large-scale ransomware incidents (including a Ghana case encrypting 100 TB of data), extensive fraud networks, and numerous malicious domains and social accounts through international cooperation and partner support.
