European Commission Contains Cyber-Attack Targeting Staff Mobile Data

On January 30 the European Commission detected and contained a breach of its central MDM/UEM management infrastructure that exposed a limited set of staff PII (names and mobile numbers). CERT-EU isolated, cleaned, and restored affected systems within approximately nine hours, preventing lateral movement to managed mobile endpoints; a post-incident review will inform further hardening under recent EU cybersecurity initiatives (Cybersecurity Act 2.0, NIS2, Cyber Solidarity Act).
