Google Expands Chrome Lazy Loading to Video and Audio in New Browser Update

Google is adding native lazy-loading support for <video> and <audio> via the loading="lazy" attribute, extending existing behavior for <img> and <iframe>. The change reduces the need for custom JavaScript workarounds (e.g., Intersection Observer), improves initial page load times and data usage, and will be trialed in Chrome 147 with a full rollout enabled by default in Chrome 148 across major platforms.
