Microsoft Launches Copilot Cowork, a New AI Feature in Microsoft 365 to Automate Tasks

Microsoft announced Copilot Cowork, an AI-powered capability in Microsoft 365 that converts user intent into autonomous, multi-step workflows across Outlook, Teams, Excel and other apps. Cowork uses Work IQ to ground actions in real-time signals, supports use cases like calendar optimization, meeting preparation, company research, and product launch planning, and executes tasks with user-confirmed checkpoints inside a sandboxed environment that inherits Microsoft 365 security, identity, and compliance controls; it also leverages Anthropic's Claude model as part of a multi-model architecture and is currently available via the Microsoft 365 Copilot Frontier Program.
