India Set to Ban Sale of Hikvision, TP-Link, CCTV Products From April

Starting April 1, 2026, the Indian government will ban sales of Chinese internet-connected CCTV cameras (including Hikvision, Dahua, and TP-Link) by enforcing STQC/IS 13252-1 certification rules that require disclosure of SoC country-of-origin, secure TLS/HTTPS communication, uniform patch management, and deny certification for devices using Chinese-origin chipsets. The policy has prompted domestic manufacturers to replace prohibited components with Taiwanese chipsets and localized firmware, driving Indian brands to capture over 80% market share, raising mid-to-high-end camera prices by 15–20%, and drawing both praise for national security and criticism of potential protectionism and reliability concerns.
